Solar Power Diverters
What are the benefits of Solar Power Diverters?
- Make use of 100% of your solar generation
- Reduce your carbon footprint
- Quick return on investment
- User friendly
- Reduce the use of your boiler
- Won’t affect your Feed-In-Tariff payments
- Cheaper to install and maintain than solar thermal
Most homeowners won’t use all of the Solar energy that their Solar PV system generates, leaving a surplus amount being exported back to the Grid. With the average import cost of electricity rising and Smart Export Guarantee payment being relatively low it makes sense to want to use as much of your own solar energy as you can.
Use your Solar PV to be benefit from free hot water
By Installing a Solar Power Diverter you will be able to maximise your Solar energy usage, and benefit from free hot water, underfloor heating or even help to heat a swimming pool.
How does a Solar Power Diverter work?
Solar power diverters work by constantly monitoring the amount of electricity your Solar PV System is generating and how much energy your home is demanding. This is monitored through a sensor, connecting between your main meter and consumer unit.
When your home isn’t demanding any energy, and if your solar batteries are full, you will start exporting your energy back to the National Grid. If and when the sensor detects that your Solar PV System is exporting energy to the Grid, the device diverts this flow of energy. Diverting your Solar Energy to power the immersion heater in your hot water tank instead. This effectively heats your water cylinder for free from energy from the sun, reducing the cost you would have otherwise
had to pay for fuel to power your boiler.
If your home starts to demand more energy. For example, if you switch on the washing machine or the kettle, the solar power diverter will reduce the amount of energy it is using. This means that your Solar PV System will always prioritise your home’s electricity needs first.
Solar PV paired with a diverter is a cheaper, more maintenance free alternative to Solar Thermal. With no moving parts, and with an immersion diverter being an affordable add on, using your Solar PV System to heat your water is a reliable option.
A solar power diverter doesn’t have to be installed at the same time as your Solar Panel System. Making it a great additional smart investment at any time.

Heat Batteries
What are the benefits of heat batteries?
- Make the most of renewable energy
- Increased efficiency
- Efficient energy storage
- Space-saving design
- Compliments electric heating and ASHP
- Reduce your carbon footprint
- Make the most of off-peak energy
To compliment your renewable energy system and to work alongside electric heating, we can install heat batteries in your home and business. Heat batteries store either spare heat or electricity, often generated by renewable energy systems.
Space-saving efficient hot water
This is a relatively new technology for home heat storage. They can be used to store heat from a range of different sources to supply hot water and space heating. Heat batteries take up less space than a hot water tank and can store heat for longer.
They are based on latent heat storage; heat or electrical energy is used to change a phase change material (PCM) from one phase to the other (in other words solid to liquid) and this captures the energy. When you need to extract the heat it does this by doing the reverse process (in other words liquid to solid) with a release of heat which can then be used to heat water for you to use in the home.
Heat batteries are generally smaller and lighter than filled thermal stores. This means you might be able to install one in a convenient location even if you can’t find space for a traditional hot water cylinder. Heat storage batteries do not degrade in the same way as electrical batteries and should have a far longer lifespan.
Maintenance and lifespan of heat batteries
Heat batteries require minimal maintenance due to their lack of mechanical parts. However, it is worth getting a professional to check the equipment periodically. Heat batteries have a lifespan of over 40.000 cycles, which is the equivalent of over 40 years of use – so once installed you shouldn’t have to worry about replacing for a very long time!

Smart Hot Water Cylinders
What are the benefits of a Mixergy cylinder?
- Reduce your carbon footprint
- Up to 40% savings on hot water bills
- Compatible with renewable energy
- Heat what you need only
- 10 x faster hot water delivery
- 30% more useable hot water delivered
- Smart control or simple gauge
- Standard or slim-line options
We install Mixergy cylinders as part of an electric heating system. They replace existing immersion tanks or add an energy store to a solar system. The ingenious design allows you to take complete control, heating as little as 20% of the cylinder.
Heat only what you need
Mixergy are the market leaders in smart and connected hot water tanks. Their design helps you live better, save money, and reduce your impact on the environment.
Their award-winning tank gives you all the hot water you need, when you need it, with their patented top-down heating technology. Compared to conventional tanks, you can save up to 40% on your hot water bills and heat your water 10x faster.
Mixergy tanks save energy and money by only heating the hot water that you need. They can deliver hot water up to 10 times faster than conventional tanks. You stay in complete control with the Mixergy app or simple gauge, and it can connect it to any heat source, from gas boilers to solar and ASHP. What’s more, the Mixergy technology will potentially improve the efficiency of your existing heating system.
